Undergrad Scholarships


Submit a Scholarship Application for the previous academic school year

NOTE: for 2024 this will be for Spring 2024 only.


The Foundation is responsible for granting financial aid and scholarships to recognize and encourage academic achievement and leadership development among the active members and candidates for membership of the Chapter.

The number and amount of each grant may vary, depending on the funds available to the Foundation each calendar year.

The following are examples of the types of grants the Foundation may disburse:

  • Academic grants to recognize outstanding scholastic achievement.
  • Grants to outstanding members of the pledge class upon their initiation to the Chapter.
  • Financial hardship grants to help deserving Brothers with a demonstrated financial need. These grants are determined on a case-by-case basis, and the names are undisclosed to maintain privacy.

The Foundation has developed appropriate procedures for selecting the recipients and disbursing the funds.  Following is a list of current scholarships being offered.  By offering these scholarships, we hope to develop, encourage and support future leaders from the Bill George Beta Psi Chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.  

Bill and Penny George Scholarship for Leadership – Most Dedicated Officer

Amount: $2,500 Minimum

This award is given to the officer who exhibits the most dedication to his position for the previous semester. He is innovative in his approach to accomplishing the tasks required. The job performance is remarkably superior to the past performance of the same position. He is recognized as a leader and is respected by those around him.

Scholarship Requirements

  • Applicants must be members in good standing of the Bill George Beta Psi Chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
  • Individual must hold one of the following positions within the fraternity: Consul, Pro Consul, Magister, Quaester, Annotator, House Manager, Tribune, Rush Chairman, Social Chairman or Scholarship Chairman.
  • Applicants must be full time students enrolled at the Georgia Institute of Technology with an overall GPA of at least 2.60.

Bill and Penny George Scholarship for Leadership – Most Dedicated Brother

Amount: $2,500 Minimum

This award is given to the Brother who exhibits the most dedication to his fraternity, school, and his community during the previous semester. He is well-liked and exhibits the traits of theThis award is given to the Brother who exhibits the most dedication to his fraternity, school and his community.  He is well liked and exhibits the traits of the Jordan Standard.  As a recognized leader, he is respected by those around him.

Scholarship Requirements

  • Applicants must be members in good standing of the Bill George Beta Psi Chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
  • This award is open to all Brothers, including officers.
  • Applicants must be full time students enrolled at the Georgia Institute of Technology with an overall GPA of at least 2.60.

    Rewarding Academic Excellence

    Amount: Minimum award of $750 each/year

    This award is given to the brother who has demonstrated a high level of academic performance for a sustained period of time (minimum of four semesters).

    • Steve Denning Scholarship for Academic Excellence

    Scholarship Requirements

    • Applicants must be members in good standing of the Bill George Beta Psi Chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
    • Individual must have completed a minimum of four semesters.
    • Applicants must be full-time students enrolled at the Georgia Institute of Technology with an overall GPA of at least 3.5.

    Rewarding Academic Achievement

    Amount: Minimum award of $625 each/year

    These awards are given to brothers who have demonstrated a high level of academic performance for a sustained period of time (minimum of three semesters).

    • Dr. Allen Ecker Scholarship for Academic Achievement
    • Neel Family Scholarship for Academic Achievement

    Scholarship Requirements

      • Applicants must be members in good standing of the Bill George Beta Psi Chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
      • Individual must have completed a minimum of three semesters.
      • Applicants must be full-time students enrolled at the Georgia Institute of Technology with an overall GPA of at least 3.25.

      Rewarding Academic Progress

      Amount: Minimum award of $500 each/year

      These awards are given to brothers who have demonstrated a high level of academic performance, either for the semester immediately preceding the application period or for a sustained period of time. Overall GPA, recent performance, and improvement over an extended time frame will be reviewed.

      • Bolton Family Scholarship for Academic Progress
      • A.J. Land Scholarship for Academic Progress
      • Peter Palmisano Scholarship for Academic Progress
      • Claude Petty Scholarship for Academic Progress
      • Mark V. Smith Scholarship for Academic Progress
      • Gary Steel Scholarship for Academic Progress
      • Charles Thomason Scholarship for Academic Progress

      Scholarship Requirements

          • Applicants must be members in good standing of the Bill George Beta Psi Chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
          • Individuals must have completed a minimum of two semesters.
          • Applicants must be full-time students enrolled at the Georgia Institute of Technology with an overall GPA of at least 3.0.

          Scholarship Preferences

              • The Claude Petty Scholarship for Academic Progress will give special consideration to active brothers with a financial need component.
              • The Gary Steele Scholarship for Academic Progress will give special consideration to active brothers playing a sport (intramural sports participation is excluded).

          Eagle Scholarship

          Amount: Minimum award of $1,250 each/year

          This award is given to the brother who has demonstrated a high level of academic performance for a sustained period of time (minimum of five semesters), is active in volunteer work either on or off campus and is a member of at least one extra-curricular club/activity on campus.

          Scholarship Requirements

                • Applicants must be members in good standing of the Bill George Beta Psi Chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
                • Individuals must have completed a minimum of five semesters.
                • Applicants must be full-time students enrolled at the Georgia Institute of Technology with an overall GPA of at least 4.0.

                Constantine Scholarship

                Amount: Minimum award of $1,000 each/year

                This award is given to the brother who has demonstrated a high level of academic performance for a sustained period of time (minimum of four semesters), is active in volunteer either on or off campus and is a member of at least one extra-curricular club/activity on campus.

                Scholarship Requirements

                • Applicants must be members in good standing of the Bill George Beta Psi Chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
                • Individuals must have completed a minimum of four semesters.
                • Applicants must be full-time students enrolled at the Georgia Institute of Technology with an overall GPA of at least 3.75.

                Founder Scholarship

                Amount: Minimum award of $875 each/year

                This award is given to the brother who has demonstrated a high level of academic performance for a sustained period of time (minimum of three semesters), is active in volunteer work, either on or off campus and is a member of at least one extra-curricular club/activity on campus.

                Scholarship Requirements

                • Applicants must be members in good standing of the Bill George Beta Psi Chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
                • Individuals must have completed a minimum of three semesters.
                • Applicants must be full-time students enrolled at the Georgia Institute of Technology with an overall GPA of at least 3.5.

                White Cross Scholarship

                Amount: Minimum award of $750 each/year

                This award is given to the brother who has demonstrated a high level of academic performance for a sustained period of time (minimum of three semesters), is active in volunteer work, either on or off campus and is a member of at least one extra-curricular club/activity on campus.

                Scholarship Requirements

                • Applicants must be members in good standing of the Bill George Beta Psi Chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
                • Individuals must have completed a minimum of three semesters.
                • Applicants must be full-time students enrolled at the Georgia Institute of Technology with an overall GPA of at least 3.25.

                Norman Shield Scholarship

                Amount: Minimum award of $500 each/year

                This award is given to the brother who has demonstrated a high level of academic performance for a sustained period of time (minimum of three semesters), is active in volunteer work, either on or off campus, is a member of at least one extra-curricular club/activity on campus and is in a leadership position.

                Scholarship Requirements

                • Applicants must be members in good standing of the Bill George Beta Psi Chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
                • Individuals must have completed a minimum of three semesters.
                • Applicants must be full-time students enrolled at the Georgia Institute of Technology with an overall GPA of at least 3.0.

                Jordan Standard Scholarship

                Amount: Minimum award of $375 each/year

                This award is given to the brother who has demonstrated a high level of academic performance for a sustained period of time (minimum of two semesters), is active in volunteer work, either on or off campus.

                Scholarship Requirements

                • Applicants must be members in good standing of the Bill George Beta Psi Chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
                • Individuals must have completed a minimum of two semesters.
                • Applicants must be full-time students enrolled at the Georgia Institute of Technology with an overall GPA of at least 3.0.

                Best All-Around Pledge Scholarship

                Amount: Minimum award of $500 each/year

                This award is given to the pledge (fall semester) who exhibits an ability to balance fraternity, academics, family, and community. He is innovative in his approach to accomplishing the tasks required. He is recognized as leader and is respected by those around him. The individual must be able to complete his pledge training in an exemplary manner and be initiated in the fall semester.

                Scholarship Requirements

                • Applicants must be members in good standing of the Bill George Beta Psi Chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
                • Individuals must be a pledge in the semester prior to the award.
                • Applicants must be full-time students enrolled at the Georgia Institute of Technology with an overall GPA of at least 3.0.

                Highest Pledge Class GPA Scholarship

                Amount: Minimum award of $375 each/year

                This award is given to the pledge(s) that had the highest GPA in the fall semester of his pledge class. The individual must be able to complete his pledge training in an exemplary manner and be initiated in the fall semester.

                Scholarship Requirements

                • Applicants must be members in good standing of the Bill George Beta Psi Chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
                • Individual must be a fall pledge.
                • Applicants must be full time students enrolled at the Georgia Institute of Technology with an overall GPA of at least 3.5.

                Financial Need-Based Scholarship

                Amount: Minimum award of $1,000 each/year

                This award is given to any Brother who exhibits a financial need that is impacting his everyday life and his ability to take advantage of the college experience. He makes an effort to participate in the fraternity, school, and the community. He is well-liked and exhibits the traits of the Jordan Standard. As a recognized leader, he is respected by those around him.

                Scholarship Requirements

                • Applicants must be members or pledges in good standing of the Bill George Beta Psi Chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
                • Applicants must be full-time students enrolled at the Georgia Institute of Technology with an overall GPA of at least 3.0.
                • The scholarship application process is currently closed.
