Submit a Spring 2023 Scholarship Application Submit a Fall 2023 Scholarship Application The Foundation is responsible for granting financial aid and scholarships to recognize and encourage academic achievement and leadership development among the active members and candidates for membership of the Chapter. The number and amount of each grant may vary, depending on the funds available to the Foundation from the various donations made to the Annual Fund. The following are examples of the types of grants the Foundation may disburse:
The Foundation has developed appropriate procedures for selecting the recipients and disbursing the funds. Following is a list of current scholarships being offered. By offering these scholarships, we hope to develop, encourage and support future leaders from the Bill George Beta Psi Chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. Bill and Penny George Scholarship for Leadership – Most Dedicated OfficerAmount: $1,000 This award is given to the officer who exhibits the most dedication to his position. He is innovative in his approach to accomplishing the tasks required. The job performance is remarkably superior to the past performance of the same position. He is recognized as a leader and is respected by those around him. Scholarship Requirements
Bill and Penny George Scholarship for Leadership – Most Dedicated BrotherAmount: $1,000 This award is given to the Brother who exhibits the most dedication to his fraternity, school and his community. He is well liked and exhibits the traits of the Jordan Standard. As a recognized leader, he is respected by those around him. Scholarship Requirements
Officer Commendation AwardAmount: $800 This award is given to each of the eligible officers (Consul, Pro Consul, Quaestor, Magister and House Manager) who exhibit a high level of competence and diligence in carrying out the duties of their respective office positions. A winner of this award must execute the responsibilities of his office to a degree that is found to be commendable by a large majority of the Chapter and Executive Committee. Scholarship Requirements
Academic Performance
Amount: Minimum award of $500 This award is given to the brother who has demonstrated a high level of academic performance, either for the semester immediately preceding the application period, or for a sustained period of time. Overall GPA, recent performance, and improvement over an extended time frame will be reviewed. The number of hours taken per semester and number of semesters completed is part of the evaluation process. Participation in fraternity and other activities is also considered. Best All-Around Pledge ScholarshipAmount: $500 This award is given to the pledge (fall semester) who exhibits an ability to balance fraternity, academics, family and community. He is innovative in his approach to accomplishing the tasks required. He is recognized as leader and is respected by those around him. Scholarship Requirements
Highest Pledge Class GPA ScholarshipAmount: $500 This award is given to the pledge (fall semester) that has the highest pledge class grade point average. The individual must be able to complete his pledge training in exemplary manner and be initiated in the semester for which the award is given. The GPA is calculated for the pledging semester only. Financial Need-Based ScholarshipAmount: To Be Determined by the Foundation This award is given to the Brother who exhibits a financial need that is impacting his everyday life and his ability to take advantage of the college experience. He makes an effort to participate in the fraternity, school, and the community. He is well liked and exhibits the traits of the Jordan Standard.
